How to Maintain Your Pine Wardrobe

Having pine wardrobes in your home may require that you do a little maintenance work every now and then to keep them looking as good as when you first got them and to help them last longer. There are a few things you need to do with your pine wardrobes to be able to achieve this. These important things include where you place them in your home or room, how you clean them, how to repair them and how to make them shine. Here are some tips on how you can keep your pine wardrobes and other pine furniture in the kind of good condition they should be in:

  • When you place your pine furniture or wardrobes in your home, make sure that they do not get hit by direct sunlight. Make sure that they are also far from heating units such as radiators and fireplaces. Since pine can crack and fade when exposed to heat, it would be best for you to heed this advice.
  • When cleaning pine furniture, make sure that you do not use detergent or harsh polishes and sprays. This can strip the wood of its natural oils and can damage the rustic look of your pine furniture. Simply use a damp rag to wipe off any dirt that can be found on your pine items.
  • Did you know that you can actually repair dents in your pine wardrobe by pouring a bit of hot water on the dent? Once you pour a bit of hot water over this damaged area, remove the surplus water from the spot with a clean cloth and the dent will plump itself up.
  • To restore the shine of your pine cabinet, you will need to first sand off the old wax coating on your furniture. Wipe off the wood dust from the surface and with the use of a new paintbrush, apply block wax to the surface of your wardrobe. Buff this with another brush once dry.
